Unlike a hysterectomy, a uterine (endometrial) ablation preserves the uterus and does not require any incisions. The procedure involves applying heat to treat the uterus lining. A quick 15-minute procedure, uterine ablation requires no hospital stay and a fast recovery with most women returning to their normal routine the very next day. It is not safe to ever become pregnant after this procedure. Therefore, this procedure is for women who are willing to use continuous or permanent birth control.

Essure® Permanent Birth Control
Essure is a new FDA approved in-office alternative to tubal ligation. Offered by Woodlands ObGyn physicians, women who no longer want to have children can undergo a quick 15-minute procedure for permanent birth control. There are no incisions and little, if any, discomfort during the procedure. Essure is truly permanent and is not reversible. Therefore, only women who are certain they do not want to get pregnant in the future should consider this procedure.
